One of the many things features we’ve included in the product is the ability to automatically email your group whenever you do common things such as adding documents, contacts or a new discussion thread.
For the most project management tools this is common, almost expected functionality. Getting notified automatically via email is a nice touch, especially if you’re managing multiple projects and need to be assured that your documents and other forms of communication are being organized correctly.
When it comes to email notification, Joint Contact allows additional flexibility by using the name and email of the person who is uploading the document, contact list etc.. This may sound simplistic, but it is something that we’ve found to be many project managers are seeking in a management solution. The idea being that when a message is sent, that they be allowed to interact with the message like it was sent directly to them by the other user. This allows the email recipient to do the following:
- View, sort and list the email notification based on the sender.
- Reply directly to notifications directly in email.
For example, responding to online discussion threads directly through email is a simple design feature allows you to blend Joint Contact with other commonly used tools as your Blackberry, Windows Mobile device in addition to your regular computer at home or at work. The idea being that you can respond to a message posting in email rather than having to log back into Joint Contact in order to respond to a message. The only caveat being that any JC messages that you respond to in email are not posted back to Joint Contact.
Obviously, the best of both worlds would include the ability for Joint Contact to track discussion threads that originate in email. Users can do this using Joint Contact for Outlook 2007, and we are also of building additional plug-in’s that will work with other platforms and applications.
